Nate Gibson, 2008 Boston Tour Conductor of the Year

Nate Gibson has been the recipient of numerous Safe Driver Awards and was recently named the 2008 Conductor of the Year at Old Town Trolley Tours of Boston.

Nate enjoys sharing his beautiful city of Boston with its visitors while giving life to the stories within each crevice. On any given day you might find Nate driving our day-time tours of Boston, our winter Chocolate Tours, our night-time Ghosts & Gravestones tours or one of our many chartered trolleys. He may also be training the rookies, on break at the sandwich shop or dispatching from Stop #1.

Nate is an accomplished musician, having studied guitar and trumpet at Berklee College of Music, and plays throughout New England with his honky-tonk band, Nate & the Gashouse Gang. He writes songs about trolleys, Necco wafers, eBay and dogs, among other things. Prior to the trolley life, Nate received his B.F.A. in writing, literature and publishing (with an emphasis on poetry and song) from Emerson College and he has recently completed a book about the history of Starday Records (University of Mississippi Press), the largest independent country music record label of the 1950s and 60s. Nate is also the co-author of 101 Pirate Jokes (Emerson College Press) and has several other book projects in the works. In addition to giving tours, Nate is presently recording his band's third CD, researching and publishing stories relating to American vernacular music and working towards a degree in ethnomusicology. This summer he will re-immerse himself in the study of the Spanish language.

Nate was born in St. Louis, grew up in Kansas and presently lives in Boston. He loves his beagle-pointer mix, family, friends, home, guitar, books and record collection. He also loves Boston, Kansas, St. Louis, Bahia (Brazil), Nashville, New England, Brooklyn, San Francisco, Montreal and many other destinations. Further, Nate is known to be fond of Necco wafers, the Red Sox, root beer, fantasy sports, the Waffle House and all types of music. He also loves trolleys and looks forward to showing you a good time during your visit!
