February

February 1-12
Dead Man’s Cell Phone at the Waterfront Playhouse
310 Wall Street - (305) 294-5015

In a quiet cafe a cell phone rings. And rings. The stranger at the next table has had enough. She confronts the owner of the cell phone, but, well … he’s dead. She begins to answer his calls and suddenly finds herself enmeshed in his life and family. Unfortunately, the dead guy has quite a number of shady loose ends. This comic fantasy traces one woman’s accidental quest to make a few people feel just a little bit better about themselves.

February 7-29
God of Carnage at the Red Barn Theater
319 Duval Street - (305) 296-9911

Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play, this Broadway smash hit is a comedy of manners without the manners. Two couples meet to discuss an altercation on the playground between their eleven year-old sons. Civilized manners soon give way to a rumble in the living room as all hell breaks loose in this very funny play about the primitive tendencies that lurk just below the surface in us all. The stellar cast of Bob Bowersox, Mimi McDonald, Annie Miners and George Murphy will make this an evening of theatre you won’t soon forget. ”Never underestimate the pleasure of watching really good actors behaving terribly… It incites the kind of laughter that comes from the gut. [God of Carnage is] a satisfying primitive entertainment with an intellectual veneer.” – Ben Brantley, The New York Times. God of Carnage also won the Olivier Award in London for Best New Comedy and will be directed by Joy Hawkins.

It's about two fraudsters living on the French Riviera. Lawrence is a cultivated and suave gentleman who cons rich ladies out of their money. Freddy on the other hand is a small time American thief who cons women into giving him money by telling made up stories about his sick grandmother. One day they meet on the train and try to setup some work together, but soon find out that the small French town they live in isn't big enough to support two scammers. So they setup a challenge: They agree that the first person to successfully steal $50,000 from a young Christine Colgate will get to stay in town, while the loser gets to leave.
