At the present time, we have a limited number of Trolley Trams that are wheelchair accessible. Due to safety concerns, there are a number of stops that do not safely permit loading and unloading; however, we will accommodate our guests whenever possible.
We are happy to provide this service, but ask for a few small accommodations to allow us to do so with the utmost safety and minimal impact on other guests utilizing our services. We request that you give us as much notice as possible as to your arrival date and the time you’d like to take the tour (24 hours notice preferred). This will assure that a properly equipped vehicle will be made available. Please arrive at a designated (agreed upon) stop no later than 15 minutes prior to your departure time so that we can accomplish the boarding process smoothly and safely.
As always, collapsible wheelchairs are permitted on any of our Trolley Trams and all of our CASTmembers are willing and able to assist with the loading.
We have Trolley Tram vehicles with wheelchair ramps. To manage these devices often takes two people to maneuver them into position and requires a considerable amount of space that many of the stops we are permitted to use do not have. Because of these reasons we are unable to provide the on/off service to guests that need to utilize the ramp and our ramps can only be deployed in a limited number of places. However, we are happy to accommodate our guests wherever possible.
We strongly encourage guests that need to utilize the wheelchair ramp to arrive at stop 1, the Old Jail Museum, as there is plenty of space to deploy the ramp, and free handicap parking. However, in some cases, we can accommodate guests that need to board the trolley from locations other than stop 1. The stops that will safely accommodate loading and unloading are 1, 2, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23. Again, this is a safety concern so that the ramps can be deployed on level surfaces with adequate space, out of the line of direct vehicle traffic. To take advantage of these accommodations, we ask that you secure your own transportation to one of the above listed locations (again, please give notice of which stop so that we can meet you there with one of our wheelchair equipped Trolley Trams.) We look forward to having you on St. Augustine’s Best Sightseeing Tour.
A hearing impaired tour script guide may also be provided upon request.
