Old Town Trolley Tours of St. Augustine has developed an exciting school tour program that highlights the rich history of the nation’s oldest city and brings to life your Florida History lessons. The program is curriculum-based and is designed to link field trip experiences with state standards. Each teacher will receive a complimentary 16-page activities booklet sent via email as a PDF file; it is filled with resource material for classroom and field trip activities, including pre and post visit information, exercises and hands-on activities for your students’ St. Augustine visit. The resource notebook, developed by a curriculum specialist, will enhance the experiences offered by our fully-narrated educational Trolley Tours, the Florida Heritage Museum, the 17th century Castillo de San Marcos fort, Henry Flagler’s Old Jail and other St. Augustine sites.
Our popular Discovery Tour brings your students in contact with some of the most important and exciting historical sites and museums in St. Augustine. It is designed to link the students’ classroom exercises with authentic hands-on history experiences. The program includes specialized visits to the 17th century Castillo de San Marcos fort, the late 1800s Old Jail, the Florida Heritage Museum, and a fully narrated Trolley tour of historic St. Augustine. The Old Town Trolley Tour highlights 100 points of interest from Florida’s first successful mission, Nombre de Dios, to Henry Flagler’s grand Ponce de Leon Hotel. The Trolley will also transport your group to the fort and other sites selected as part of your itinerary. With a break for lunch, the approximate time of the tour is five hours.
