How long does one of your tours take?

In total, the day tour route is approximately one hour and 45 minutes long.

Do I have to start my tour at Stop #1?

No. As long as you have a ticket, you may board the trolley and begin your tour at any one of our stops.

What language are the tours in?

All of our tours are in English.

What are your prices?

Are the tours narrated?

All of our tours are fully narrated, and our guides are accredited by the city government.

Can I get on and off wherever I want?

Yes. Old Town Trolley offers 15 stops in Washington DC and you can get on and off at your leisure throughout the day. Trolleys run between stops approximately every half-hour;

Can I go around the loop more than once?

You can go around as many times as you would like until closing time; but it’s best to hop on and off.

Your trolley came by and it’s full. What do I do?

Don’t panic. The driver will alert the dispatcher to the problem, and the dispatcher will take steps to correct it; this usually entails sending an extra trolley to pick up some of the guests.

If the last full tour is at 4:00 and I take the trolley at 4:00 from Union Station, will it take me back to Union Station?

Yes.

Where can I purchase tickets?

Our primary ticketing locations are at the Washington Welcome Center, at the corner of 10th St. and E. St., NW, and at Union Station, where our booth is located in the center of the Main Hall. In addition, many hotels in the city sell our tickets.

Can I pay with a credit card?

We accept all major credit cards at our Washington sales offices. In addition, you may purchase Washington DC Tickets online.

Do I need to make reservations for your tour?

You do not need to make reservations for our day tour. However, we strongly encourage you make a reservation for our Premium Tour: Monuments by Moonlight Tour.

Can your trolleys accommodate an electric scooter?

Some of our trolleys are wheelchair-accessible, but generally electric scooters are not allowed on board.

I have a wheelchair and would like to take your tour. Do I need to make any other arrangements?

If you would like a wheelchair-accessible trolley, we ask that you call at least 24 hours in advance to give us notice and allow us to make accommodations for you. For more information, go to accessibility services.

Is there a place for me to put my stroller?

We have room for strollers and folding wheelchairs at the front of our trolleys.

Are food and drinks allowed while on the tour?

Food and drinks are welcome. However alcoholic beverages are not allowed under any circumstance for the safety and comfort of all of our guests.

Are your trolleys open-air?

Our trolleys are equipped with windows that can be opened and closed as needed. They also have roofs to protect passengers from the elements.

Are your trolleys air-conditioned?

No; our vehicles are uniquely equipped open-air vehicles with windows that can be opened and closed as needed.

Do you go to the World War II Memorial?

Yes.

Does the trolley take us back to our starting point after the last stop or do we have to take alternate transportation back?

Our trolleys run on continuous loops. Start your tour at any one of our convenient stops throughout the day. You may get on and off at any stop as many times as you want. Since the tour is continuous, the trolley will take you back to your starting point.

We will be in Washington DC in November and would like to take your tour. Are the trolleys enclosed during the winter months?

Yes.

Can I bring my stroller on board the trolley?

Yes, we can accommodate strollers but they must be collapsible and will be stored up front with the conductor. Strollers in the aisle ways would constitute a safety hazard.

Are the trolleys heated?

Yes. During the wintertime, we use heated trolleys that are enclosed specifically for the colder weather.

Do you offer tours in other cities?

Are dogs allowed on your trolleys?

Service animals are the only animals that are allowed on board the trolleys. A service animal means a dog, regardless of breed or type, that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of a qualified individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. Animal species other than dogs, emotional support animals, comfort animals, companionship animals, and service animals in training are not service animals.

Will your tickets get me into any of the other attractions in Washington DC?

They will not; however, most attractions in the city are free. Timed tickets may be required – check ahead for more details depending on where you wish to go.

Do I need a reservation, or can I just show up?

We strongly recommend that you call to make a reservation before taking the tour. Reservations can be made by calling (202) 832-9800. If you show up at the desk at Union Station or at the Washington Welcome Center without a reservation, it is possible to be put on a standby list; this does not, however, guarantee that you will get a seat.
