Meet Our Conductors

I was born in Charleston, SC, but raised in surrounding cities. I’ve been giving tours with the Old Town Trolley since June 2025, and my favorite part is meeting people from all over the world! I enjoy going to concerts, reading, and making art!

My name is Major Ted, and I am a Charleston, South Carolina native, but I’ve lived all over the world! My mom and dad are still married, living in the same house I was born and raised in. It’s located directly across from Charles Towne Landing, a historic park where Charleston was first founded by the settlers. That’s also where the original first boat is. I am a descendant of the Gullah Geechee culture, which is still here in Charleston with a very strong presence. They actually made and built Charleston into what it is today, the city by the sea. So when it comes down to Major Ted of Old Town Trolley Tours, I am truly a local who knows the real historic history and beauty of Charleston as a whole!

Andrew is originally from the Philly area but grew up in South Carolina. He has been working for OTT since April 2025 and absolutely loves it. Described by his friends and family as a “huge nerd”, he will talk your ear off for hours about everything from history to Lord of the Rings to barbecue.

I’m originally from Gainesville, FL, a Charleston resident for 35 years. I am an artist, a mother to a wonderful adult son who lives in Savannah, and a huge SEC football fan. I love Charleston’s energy, the food, and its endless beauty. The best part of my job is making others feel at home, and to hopefully make them laugh.

John is a working Charleston Certified Tour Guide with experience in providing Historic Walking and Carriage tours, Culinary Tours, and Ghost Tours.

John has been an active member of the C.T.A. for the past five years and served on the founding group for the Palmetto Guild. During his tenure at a local carriage company, John introduced and implemented (with others) the concept of a Carriage Trade Association, now Charleston C.A.R.E.S. John has extensive experience dealing with the Department of Livability, Tourism Commission, and Mayor’s Office.

John has served in a variety of volunteer roles in educational, trade, and cultural institutions. He is currently president of an educational foundation in Chicago, IL., a Regent Emeritus at an Iowa liberal arts college, former Chairman of the Milwaukee Public Museum, and former Chairman of the Foundation for Investor Education. John’s professional activities over a 35-year-period include roles as CEO of a boutique investment bank, president of a large division of a major money management company, executive roles at two money center banks, and numerous board roles as a bank director, mutual fund trustee, and corporate directorships at a public and a private company.

John formerly taught at DePaul University’s Graduate School of Business, has been a speaker/panelist at numerous industry conclaves and contributed articles to various publications, including “The Harvard Business Review”. John resides on James Island with Lynn, his spouse of 44 years, has two grown children (Meghann and Johnny), and three grandchildren (Sam, Hailey, and Emily)! While hailing from the Midwest originally, John has greatly enjoyed the last ten years as a Low Country resident and would be happy to offer his time and energy to the CTA should the members so decide.
