Savannah Folk Music Society Monthly presents “First Friday for Folk Music” each month. Festivities start at 7:30 p.m. and run until about 10 p.m. It is a smoke-free, alcohol-free and family-friendly evening of music in a coffee house setting, regularly attended by an appreciative audience of folk music enthusiasts from the greater Savannah and surrounding area. Each Saturday the Forsyth Farmers’ Market opens from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., rain or shine, at the South End of Forsyth Park in Historic Downtown Savannah. The Forsyth Farmers’ Market vendors offer a variety of local goods including seasonal produce, eggs, honey, pastured meat, bread, cheese, mushrooms, fresh herbs, vegetable sauces, preserves, coffee beans, heirloom seeds and potted plants. From the very beginning, the FFM has focused on food and food issues which is why it is a producer-only market (meaning all vendors have to be producing at least 75 percent of the products they sell) and allows only food and plant vendors.
