On Saturday June 15th and Sunday June 16th, due to the filming of a new miniseries that takes place in downtown Washington, DC, stop 16, the Newseum and National Gallery of Art and stop 17, the National Portrait Gallery and the American Art Museum will be closed all day. There will also be rolling street closures taking place throughout the downtown area. Please expect delays and reroutes throughout the weekend. We apologize for any inconvenience. The Tomb of the Civil War Unknown is located near the Arlington House. It holds the remains of 2,111 unknown soldiers from the Battle of Bull Run. The monument was erected by order of General Montgomery C. Meigs with the intent of deterring the Lees from returning to the Arlington grounds.
