Our expert tour conductors will show you all the major sights such as Beacon Hill, the CHEERS bar, Cambridge, Old North Church, Bunker Hill Monument and Boston Public Garden.

Tour Option 2: Purchase from your shore excursion desk

Purchase tickets through the shore excursion desk onboard select cruise ships. Be sure to ask for the one and only Old Town Trolley Tour of Boston (the orange and green trolley). Most cruise lines allow guests to reserve shore excursions in advance of the cruise through the cruise line website.

Guests are met on the pier and escorted to private vehicles at the cruise terminal.

We provide a 1.5 hour, non-stop tour, designed to maximize your time here in Boston. Your “Must Do” Old Town Trolley Tour of Boston will give you an inspiring city overview. Our expert tour conductors will show you all the major sights such as Beacon Hill, the CHEERS bar, Cambridge, Old North Church, Bunker Hill Monument and Boston Public Garden. The tour ends at your choice of either Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall or back at the ship.

When using Boston cruise excursions through the ship, you will be picked up and returned to the cruise terminal.

How to get to Old Town Trolley Tours if Purchasing Tour Option 1:

picture of boston map focusing on seaport district areaThe distance to your trolley depends on where your cruise ship is docked. There are three different berths where cruise ships dock and the walking distance to them varies.

Terminal 1 (Warehouse Berth): 8-10 minute walk
Terminal 2 (Main Berth): 2-3 minute walk
88 Black Falcon: 10-15 minute walk

Please check with your cruise line to determine where your ship will be docked during your visit. It’s also important to know that any trolleys parked directly in front of the cruise terminal are there for guests who have purchased Tour Option 2 from their shore excursion desk and not available to the general public.

To return to any of the piers, adults must have both ship’s card (which usually doubles as your room key) and a valid photo identification (passport, driver’s license, etc.).

Guests with Limited Mobility

For our guests with limited mobility, we strongly recommend purchasing Tour Option 2 from your shore excursion desk.

“Great day. We love Boston! We did the hop on/hop off with Old Town Trolley Tours and walked some of the Freedom Trail from the different stops. They are the only tour bus that comes close enough to the ship. When you book online with them, you can request their free brochure that will help you plan the most important stops during your shore excursion. You can’t do everything on their route so it is very helpful to plan your day in advance so that you don’t waste any time.”

“We purchased tickets online from Old Town Trolley which has a stop near the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal. The terminal is not very close to anything, so a bus, tour, or taxi is advised. We walked a couple of blocks to our bus stop, our e-ticket was stamped with the date and we were free to get on and off all day. A brochure was sent when we purchased the tickets so we already knew which stops would be priority. With trolleys running every 15-20 minutes, we never had to wait long. The drivers were very knowledgeable and their narration described every stop. We walked part of the Freedom Trail, visited historic sites, had lunch at Faneuil Hall, completed the circuit and took another trolley back to the ship. It was a great way to see Boston!”
