Hello, I’m David Thornton, General Manager of Old Town Trolley of San Diego and CASTmember since 2001. As you explore the scenic coastal landscape, you’ll learn why San Diego is called “America’s Finest City.” Since 1989, Old Town Trolley Tours has provided sightseeing tours highlighting the best of San Diego.
“Experience Transportainment®, a delightful combination of transportation and entertainment”
Our fleet of orange and green trolleys travel frequently throughout San Diego and over the iconic San Diego-Coronado Bridge to Coronado on a continuous 25-mile loop visiting various neighborhoods with 12 destination stops.
Our friendly conductors narrate the San Diego tour with a fascinating and fun mix of trivia and humorous stories. It will be our pleasure to guide you through the birthplace of California. As a San Diego resident, I assure you that Old Town Trolley Tours is the best way to see the city. Because we showcase the best of San Diego and Coronado, you can avoid costly parking and city driving. The tour is also designed so that you can hop on and off and explore on your own at any time. With frequent pickups at all our stops, this helps you avoid walking long distances.
“FREE with your purchase of a trolley ticket, you will receive our full color map and the opportunity to purchase our $6 Essentials guide book. This must have book contains ‘things to do’ suggestions, for each stop. You can get your map and purchase the Essential guide at any Old Town Trolley booth.”
Explore the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park and experience Mexican and early American life in the 19th century, including 5 original adobe homes filled with fascinating artifacts. Tour the Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum and learn about the Navy’s longest serving carrier. Enjoy the shopping, dining, and entertainment at Seaport Village. Check out the historic Gaslamp Quarter, with its Victorian-themed buildings and dozens of shops and nightclubs. Visit the William Heath Davis House, a “saltbox” style home similar to Davis’ original home, the founder of New Town San Diego.
Take the trolley to Coronado, “the Crown City,” home of the famous Hotel del Coronado, one of the nation’s top resorts. See Balboa Park, a city park that combines open space and greenery with cultural attractions. Stroll through El Prado, a long promenade running through the park, lined with Spanish architecture. Don’t miss the San Diego Zoo, one of the largest, most progressive zoos in the world with over 4,000 animals!
